Project Aim:
To learn how to build a soil moisture tester that alerts when soil
moisture levels are low.
Components Used:
1. Soil Pot
2. Power Supply
3. Transistor NPN
4. Buzzer
5. Resistor 1K &10K
6. Probes
7. Connecting Wires
Circuit Diagram:
Connection Procedure:
Step 1:
Connect the positive terminal of the power supply (Pin 62) to one end of the 1K
resistor (Pin 5).
Step 2:
Connect the other end of the 1K resistor (Pin 6) to one of the soil probes.
Step 3:
Connect the positive terminal of the power supply (Pin 63) to the positive
terminal of the buzzer (Pin 54).
Step 4:
Connect the negative terminal of the buzzer (Pin 53) to the collector of the
NPN transistor (Pin 31).
Step 5:
Connect the emitter of the NPN transistor (Pin 29) to the negative terminal of
the power supply (Pin 59).
Step 6:
Connect the base of the NPN transistor (Pin 30) to one end of the 10K resistor
(Pin 11).
Step 7:
Connect the other end of the 10K resistor (Pin 12) to the negative terminal of
the power supply (Pin 60).
Explanation:
The soil moisture tester circuit helps us understand soil moisture
levels in a pot. It works by sensing the conductivity of the soil using probes.
When moisture levels drop, soil conductivity increases. This triggers a
transistor, activating the buzzer to emit a beep, signaling low soil moisture.
By building and understanding this circuit, we learn to monitor and manage soil
moisture effectively for healthy plant growth.
